The Bible says: "There’s a way that seems right unto a man, but its end is the way of death." (Proverbs:14:12).
You can be sure about many things today, but the truth is we’re all going to die physically someday and the most important surety is that of your eternal destiny, not your earthly one. As Jesus Christ said “What does it profit a man to gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?” (Mark 8:36). The reality of the afterlife is certain for all people and the only assurance of escaping hell and receiving Everlasting life is found in Jesus Christ “the truth and the life” and His righteousness. With that said, this assurance is NOT found in any religion, church attendance or family tradition; NOT in any profession of faith or amount of good work you could do (In fact those things may harm more than help). It can ONLY be realized by an awakening from the Holy Spirit to the reality of being a dead hopeless sinner whose on the verge of destruction and lost without God. This hope can only be found by asking God for mercy that He might grant you His grace coming with an attitude of brokenness and humility over your sin. NOT by "Accepting Jesus," but seeing a true need by understanding your dire predicament (knowing that you can’t establish your own righteousness) and if you’re to be righteous before God it has to be a righteousness God gives to you because of what Christ has done. Therefore, saying that you’re dependent on someone else to accomplish Salvation for you--that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved (Romans 10:9) And knowing that no one can say Jesus is Lord, except by the Holy Spirit (1 Cor. 12:3).
The evidence of this reality of Eternal life results in a changed life coming from a changed heart. NOT an empty shallow profession without a repentance in saving faith and turning to God for that faith. A hope that’s found in the person and work of Jesus Christ and entering through this narrow gate that leads to life--your ONLY hope of Salvation from everlasting destruction.
