Tract Text:
In ancient times, when a person “fell in love,” the Romans would attribute it to “Cupid,” and love was described as a temporary, self-centered, sentimental, and uncontrollable emotion. However, the Bible expresses true love better: “Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave Himself up for her.” (Ephesians 5:25). Real love is self-sacrificing, unconditional, eternal, and intentional.
How is it that Christ “gave Himself up?” Jesus sacrificed Himself for our sins on the Cross. When Jesus died, He took the Father’s wrath so you could go free and be forgiven. He defeated sin and death when He rose from the dead. Jesus said, “For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.” (John 3:17) Why is this amazing? Because we are ALL guilty sinners, worthy of death! Christ said, “…whoever commits sin is a slave of sin” and “For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet stumble in one point, he is guilty of all.” (James 2:10) Have you kept God’s laws? Have you lied? Have you stolen? Ever hated anybody? “Whosoever hates his brother is a murderer.” God says “the soul that sins shall die,” and be cast into hell. This is justice, since sin is an infinite offense to a Holy God. ”God commands all men everywhere to repent.” So repent and place your faith in Jesus alone for salvation. God will grant you eternal life and forgiveness of your sins. Now that's what true love is!
