Tract Text:
There are many holidays in America that are celebrations of Freedom, but are you really free? The Bible says that we are servants to sin (Romans 6:17-20) and in the bondage of corruption (Romans 8:21). What is sin? Sin is the violating of God’s law… the Ten Commandments. (1 John 3:4) Need proof you are a slave to sin? The Bible says, “Thou shalt not bear false witness.” How many times have you told lies in your life? How about stealing? Have you ever taken God’s name in vain? Have you ever looked with lust (sexual desire) at anyone you were not married to? The Bible says, “Whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.” (Matthew 5:28) How many times have you been guilty of looking with lust? If you are guilty of these then you are a servant to sin. You are not free! God tells us that all liars, drunkards, adulterers, thieves, etc. will end up in the lake of fire… eternal hell (Revelation 21:8, 1 Corinthians 6:9-10). “…all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.” (Romans 3:23)
A few verses before that we also find these condemning words: “There is none righteous, no, not one… There is none that seeketh after God… There is none that doeth good, no, not one.” In fact, the Bible says that God will justly judge you when you die (Hebrews 9:27) and none who are unholy will enter heaven. (Revelation 21:27) We have to be holy to go to heaven. (Hebrews 12:14)
There is hope! God humbled himself and became a man in the person of Jesus Christ. He never sinned, and lived a perfect life which no other man could do. Then he shed his blood and died on the cross, paying the penalty for sin. After three days he rose from the dead, defeating sin and death. So do as the Bible says, "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved." (Acts 16:31) And remember, "If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed." (John 8:36)
