Jesus often spoke about a place where some people will go, where there will be “weeping and gnashing of teeth,” and a “fire that shall never be quenched: Where their worm dieth not” [Matthew 22:13, Mark 9:43–44]. This place is so terrible, that when Jesus spoke of Judas Iscariot who had betrayed Him, He said, “it had been good for that man if he had not been born” [Matthew 26:24]. Jesus also used the words “everlasting punishment” to describe this place [Matthew 25:46].
Does the bible tell us who will go to the lake of fire? Revelation 21:8 gives us a list of those who will be in the lake of fire:
I. The Fearful - Rev. 21:7 says those who overcome will inherit all things. But Jesus said if we deny Him, He will deny us [Matthew 10:33].
II. The Unbelieving - Without faith it is impossible to please God.
III. The Abominable - There are things that God hates. The things which he hates are an abomination to Him. According to the bible, some of the things that God hates includes “A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief, A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth dicord among brethren” [Proverbs 6:17–19]. God also once said that He hates divorce [Malachi 2:16]. [also see Luke 16:18, Mark 10:2–12, and Matthew 5:31–32, 19:8–9 to see Jesus’ teachings on divorce and remarriage.].
IV. The Murderers - The bible tells us that whoever hates his brother is a murderer. Those who are prejudice against people of different skin color prove that their heart is still decieved. God made man in His own image, therefore, if we hate our fellow man, who we have seen, then how could we say that we love God, who we have not seen? Also, killing unborn babies while they are still in the womb is murder. [Abortion is sin!]
V. Whoremongers - The bible warns us that the sexually immoral will not inherit the kingdom of God. This includes those who have sex before marriage, as well as adulterers, and homosexuals [1 Corinthians 6:9–10]. “Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge” [Hebrews 13:4].
VI. Sorcerers - The Greek word used here is “pharmakeus,” which would include drug abusers, as well as those involved in magic or witchcraft. [the bible also says that drunkards shall not inherit the kingdom of God]
VII. Idolaters - Anyone involved in worship of idols. This can include lovers of money [covetousness].
VIII. All liars - The bible tells us to speak the truth. All liars will have their part in the lake of fire.
How Do We Escape - Once before God Judged this world by a flood in the days of Noah. God warned Noah of the judgement to come, and instructed him to build an ark. Those who got inside the ark were saved, while the unbelieving world perished. In a similar way, God has made a way for you to flee the wrath that is to come. The bible says that “all we like sheep have gone astray.” and that “all have sinnned,” therefore, we all need a Savior. God sent His Son [who was with him before the world was, and by whom he made all things], into this world to save sinners. Christ took upon Himself flesh, and overcame this world, and was crucified. Christ tasted death for every man. The sins of us all was laid upon Him, and He died, and was laid in a tomb, and God raised Him from the dead three days later, and now because He died and rose again, through Him we too can die to sin, and be raised with Him into a newness of life. Believe upon the Lord Jesus, that He is the Son of God who came to die for you. God will give the holy spirit to those who obey Him [Acts 5:32]. Turn from your sins and recieve Jesus Christ as Lord. He can set you free from being a slave to sin, so that you may follow Him instead. All who believe upon Christ, should go and be baptized according to the commandment of Jesus. Baptism is an “answer of good conscience toward God” [1Peter 3:21], and a “witness” on the earth [1 John 5:8], and it also symbolizes that you are” buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life” [Romans 6:4].
Will you come to Christ and have your sins forgiven, and follow Him, or will you love darkness instead of the light? One day death will come, then judgement.
Where Will You Stand?
Jesus said “For what shall it profit a man, if he shalll gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?”
