1 You shall have no other gods before me.
2 You shall not make for yourself a carved image,
3 You shall not take the name of
the Lord your God in vain
4 Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.
5 Honor your father and your mother
6 You shall not murder.
7 You shall not commit adultery.
8 You shall not steal.
9 You shall not bear false witness
against your neighbor.
10 You shall not covet...
anything that is your neighbor's.
(Exodus 20).
When we break God's commandments, by either doing what he forbids or failing to do what He commands, it shows we are guilty of sin. The bad news is that we have all broken the commandments, and it only took one sin, to break our relationship with God. For whoever keeps the whole law but fails in one point has become accountable for all of it (James 2).
There was only one man, who ever obeyed every command of God. He did so for three major reasons: To please God the Father; to fulfill prophecy; and to make sinners right with God.. His name is Jesus, God made flesh. He came to live this obedient life, and then to take the punishment we deserved, for our sin. He rose again the third day, according to the Scriptures.
This is very good news for everyone who knows they have disobeyed God's commands. If you know that you are a sinner, because you have broken God's Law, this is also good news, because, Jesus is the sinner's Savior. Confess your sin to Him. Turn away from your sin. Turn to Jesus. The Word of God tells us, He shall save His people from their sins (Matthew 1).
