THANKSGIVING!
Pilgrims came to America to worship God according to their consciences. Sadly half of them died the first winter, but with the help of Squanto (an English-speaking native who just happened to be there) they survived. The pilgrims celebrated the harvest and invited their native neighbors. They expressed thanksgiving towards God who spared their lives through Squanto. Today “Thanksgiving” is usually just a time for family, turkey, and football. But God has given us life, eyes, and breath! He has also given us righteous commandments, including; “you shall not lie” and “you shall not steal.” You see, telling even one lie makes you a liar, and stealing one thing makes you a thief.
Some people claim they worship God, but the Bible says “if you love me, keep my commandments” (John 14:15) God is infinitely Holy and good, so any sin is an infinite offense and requires eternal punishment in Hell. How can anyone be forgiven? God took on flesh in the person of Jesus Christ. He lived a sinless life and offered Himself on the cross as a sacrifice for sin. Then He rose from the dead on the third day, showing the penalty fully paid! God commands you to repent and put your trust in Jesus. Cry out to God to save you, confessing your sins and put your faith ALONE in Jesus Christ (rather than your "good works"). Forgiveness of sins: that’s something to be thankful for!
