Knock Knock, Knock, TRICK OR TREAT!!! Every Halloween, kids go trick-or-treating to get lots of candy. Many people are also "tricked" into thinking they will be good enough to go to Heaven when they die. The real trick is to know if you are good enough to go there. God gave us His Ten Commandments to help us see how good we really are. Have you ever lied? Have you always obeyed your parents? The Bible says if you hate someone, it's just like committing murder. Have you ever taken anything that didn't belong to you? The Commandments show us how bad we really are, and are the standard that we will be tested by when we die. On that day, God will punish all people who have broken any of the commandments. They will be sent to a place called ‘Hell’ - a really bad place where you don't want to go.
Even though that‘s a scary thought, there is GOOD NEWS! God in His mercy loves sinners so much, that He made a way to be forgiven before Judgment Day, so we don’t have to be punished. God sent His son Jesus Christ down to earth. He lived a perfect life, then He went to the cross to pay the penalty for sin. He took the punishment we deserve. After three days, Jesus rose from the grave and defeated death! So what can you do? The Bible says you should put your faith in what Jesus did on the cross - stop believing that being "good" will get you to heaven! The Bible says that God will give you a new heart that will want to obey Him and do what He wants you to do. He will help you stop doing the things that are bad. Get a Bible and read it every day so you can learn more and more about Jesus!
